Now that the Nebraska football team has started fall camp, it's proven time for the vast majority of the squad. Unfortunately, there are a few players who either have to sit out or are still limited because of one injury or another.
Such is the way of college football, especially when injuries tend to be more than just rubbing some dirt on a bruise and "get back in there." After the team's first practice, Huskers head coach Matt Rhule shed some light on just who isn't yet at full go.
Early injury report shapes Nebraska football’s depth battles in fall camp
Unfortunately, several freshmen aren't ready to go for the fall camp for the Nebraska football team. Malcolm Simpson and Juju Marks are both recovering from surgeries for high school injuries. Freshman running back Jamarion Parker also did not practice.
Omaha North star Tyson Terry is also recovering from surgery. Terry tore his ACL during his senior football season; however, he held off on having surgery until after he won his fourth state wrestling championship this past winter.
Nolan Fennessy, Roger Gradney, and wide receiver Demetrius Bell are also still out for now. Bell tore his ACL in last year's Spring Game and hasn't played since. There is talk that he could eventually be back before the season kicks off in Kansas City. That he wasn't able to start fall camp with the rest of the team isn't a great sign.
Finally, senior offensive lineman Turner Corcoran is still trying to come back from a hamstring injury he suffered against Illinois last season. At some point, it's thought he could challenge for the starting right tackle position. Still, he'll be behind other Nebraska football competitors to start fall camp.
