Emmett Johnson could be the first Nebraska football running back to be drafted since 2016. Even if he somehow doesn't reach that milestone, he's loaded up with an approach and an outlook that every NFL team should appreciate. He talked about his mindset earlier this week with Hail Varsity and, in the process, showed a maturity that few other prospective rookies possess.

"It's going to be fun. Like I said, there's going to be ups and downs of life. I feel like I'm built for whatever is ahead of me, just because of the adversity I've already been through," Johnson said. He then went on to detail the support system he's got in place that will help him if things don't go the way he expects this weekend.

Nebraska football star has a mindset NFL stars should reward

"I'm really excited for this chapter, obviously, my family too. I'm really grateful to have them in my corner, you know, my parents being extremely hard workers, coming from where they come from, and, you know, immigrating from Liberia," the Nebraska star added.

"I'm just excited to, you know, try to change my family's life and also just my career, like I said, right now. Um... I want people to look at me and say, like, I haven't done anything, because that's my mindset."

Emmett Johnson continues honoring the Nebraska football program

" I'm not a superstar or nothing right now. I'm just trying to earn my right in the league, and that's what I'm going to do is just try to dominate," the man who could soon be a superstar continued. And then he delivered the line every NFL team should take seriously.

"From now until wherever team lands me, I know they're going to get. somebody that's not just a great player on the field, but great for the program."

The biggest positive from the comments is that Emmett Johnson is humble enough to know he's got to do the same thing he did at Nebraska. But if he does, the NFL will soon learn he's a one-of-a-kind talent.
