Dylan Raiola is entering his second season as the Nebraska football starting quarterback with excitement and big expectations. There’s excitement around him and he’s feeling some excitement about the team that’s been put around him.

Raiola’s excitement is particularly aimed at the new additions to the Cornhuskers’ receiving corps for the 2025 season. After a strong true freshman campaign, Raiola believes the offense has the potential to take another step forward with the talented weapons around him. He commented on his new pass catching weapons especially earlier this week when he addressed the media.

Nebraska football quarterback thrilled with upgraded receiver room

“It’s like a car guy that loves cars,” Raiola said. “It’s like Ferraris and Lamborghinis and all those kinds of cars, so it’s a blessing, honestly, to look out there, look right, look left, and you have multiple options to choose from… so it’s been a lot of fun.”

The Nebraska football quarterback has been a bit more effusive about the kind of players he has around him this year than he was in 2024. Some of that is almost certainly that he’s growing into his role. It also appears he really does think the receiving corps is going to be even better than it was in his freshman year.

Among those new options are two transfers from the Kentucky Wildcats, who followed new receiver coach Daikiel Shorts.  Dane Key led the Wildcats with 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns last season. Hardley Gilmore saw limited action in his first collegiate season but still had 6 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown.

There’s also guys like Cortez Mills and Isaiah Mozee who could be freshman impact players for the Nebraska football team. Then there’s Tanner Terch, Jaylen Lloyd, Jacory Barney Jr. and others. Dylan Raiola is far from the only person who is excited to see this group and what they can do.
