For the msot part this season, Dylan Raiola has seemed pretty even keel. At least publicly and on the field the Nebraska football quarterback has never really lost his cool.

That’s why the way he sprung up and started a tussle late in the Pinstripe Bowl after being hit while sliding was different. He was clearly ticked off, and after the game he explained exactly why he was so mad.

“I just pulled the ball in,” the Nebraska football quarterback told the media after the game. “I saw the green, and then he probably—he tried to take me out, which is why I came up and reacted. I guess it’s just the fire in me. … I wasn’t gonna do anything, but my linemen came in and cleaned up for me.”

Nebraska football signal call let the fire take over

Boston College was flagged for a late hit penalty. It allowed a drive late in the game continue.

While there were some Boston College fans who felt the penalty was wrongly assessed, the Huskers clearly agreed that the hit was beyond the pale.

The offensive linemen did get involved and there was some pushing and shoving. It looked for a minute like a fight might fully break out.

There were even some who believed that the two teams looked like old rivals. Not schools that had never played each other before.

In the end, cooler heads prevailed and the Nebraska football team went and won the game. But the reaction from Raiola could be a change. There’s been a lot of talk that some would like to see more fire at times from Raiola. Maybe he’s taking it to heart.
