The Nebraska football team knows that June will be massively important for the program's future. Husker recruits are planning all kinds of official visits. One heck of a fight is also sparking up in earnest for Matt Rhule and company as they try to keep CJ Bronaugh in the fold.

Bronaugh is still a Cornhuskers commit, but it certainly appears he’s wavering. He hinted as much when he talked to the Daytona Beach News-Journal last week and said, "I’m mostly locked on Nebraska right now. Things can happen, but I just want to get the experience and see the coaches and the culture there and see if I can see myself playing there.”

Nebraska’s top DB commit CJ Bronaugh may be slipping away just as visit season ramps up

Nebraska football knows that one possibility is Bronaugh deciding to go to Florida State and play for the Huskers’ former defensive coordinator, Tony White. However, the far scarier scenario these days seems to be him decommitting and choosing the Florida Gators.

Either way, the Windermere (Winter Garden, FL) cornerback looks like the draw of staying home is getting stronger. The No. 12 defensive back in the country, according to On3, is planning several official visits in the coming month

Bronaugh plans an official visit to see what the Gators offer on May 30. He’ll then kick things off with a visit to Nebraska on June 6, Florida State on June 13, and Penn State on June 20.

Once he completes those visits, the “second recruiting” stage of the speedy defender’s run may be over. The Huskers would have to count it as a win if he stays committed on July 1.

Granted, even if he does decommit from the Nebraska football team, Matt Rhule and company will keep fighting to flip him back. It would just be better if they continued fighting to keep him instead.
