Nebraska football bowl projections stay steady as far as opponents go
Despite the fact that the Nebraska football team has lost two games in a row, most people believe the Huskers will win at least six games this season. And when they do, they’ll be breaking an eight-season streak without a bowl game.
So where might the Cornhuskers go bowling? ESPN just updated its projections and both Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura have them playing an extra game after the season. However, they’re not in agreement on where NU is headed.
According to SI, Schlabach has the Nebraska football team playing in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona against Cincinnati. The Bearcats are 5-3 after going 3-9 in head coach Scott Satterfield’s first season. This season, Satterfield has the Bearcats playing better football. The added bonus there is some NU fans might take a bit of perverse pleasure in trying to beat a coach with the last name of Satterfield.
Nebraska football facing off against the ACC or Big 12 in bowl games
On the flip side Bonagura predicts the Huskers will play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, against Duke. This is the same prediction he has had for the last few weeks. A matchup with the Blue Devils would be solid.
Duke is 6-2 and plays well under head coach Manny Diaz in his first season. In fact, if not for a loss last week against Louisville, it’s possible the Blue Devils would be real contenders for the ACC title.
There’s plenty of anxiety about the Nebraska football team in Lincoln these days. So getting into any game at all would be a welcome change from every season since 2016.
