The roller coaster winter for the Nebraska football team continued on Saturday, thanks to a prediction that the Huskers are about to lose their grip on Andy Burburija.

Burburija committed to the Cornhuskers just five days ago. Not technically a transfer portal get, that might be the problem. Had he been someone coming through the portal, he could have signed a deal five minutes after committing. Because he comes from the JUCO ranks, he has to wait until next month's National Signing Day.

The wait allowed Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers to keep working on the big defensive tackle. According to analyst Chris Hummer, they hit the right buttons as they continued their pursuit. On Saturday morning, he put in an official prediction for a flip to the ACC school.

Clemson surge threatens Nebraska’s hold on JUCO DT Andy Burburija

Should the flip come to pass, it would be frustrating for Nebraska for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is that it would be the second time this month they thought they added a player at a position of need, only to see him walk away less than a week later.

Burburija would follow in the footsteps of quarterback Kenny Minchey. The former Notre Dame player committed to Nebraska on the first Sunday after the transfer portal opened. However, a day later, he decommitted and signed with the Kentucky Wildcats.

Granted, this wouldn't be the first time that Burburija walked back a commitment. The JUCO All-American was initially committed to Kansas State. He left the Wildcats for the Huskers when the Big 12 school went through a coaching change. Clearly, that's not the issue in Lincoln, so just why he changed his mind this time is a mystery at the moment.

Even stranger, the 6-foot-2, 290-pound lineman visited Clemson a few days before he took in Nebraska. It appears this is all about a change of heart. What's driving it isn't clear.

No matter why, if Andy Burburija moves to the ACC school, it would be a massive loss for a Nebraska defensive line that needs a lot of help after an abysmal 2025 for the unit. The IWCC Reiver recorded 45 tackles, 11 sacks, and 18.5 tackles for loss in 12 games played. He had 78 total tackles, 14 total sacks, and 27.5 total tackles for loss in two seasons at the junior college level.
