When Amir Brown decommitted from North Carolina, it looked like the 2027 running back was headed to Notre Dame. However, after a visit to see the Nebraska football program up close and personal, there's a new front-runner.
Brown, a 4-star running back out of North Carolina who is the No. 10 player in the state and No. 21 back in the class, was reportedly blown away by what he saw when he visited the Huskers during their game against Northwestern.
"I thought they were joking when they said they had the No. 1 fan base in college football, but that's for real," Brown said about Nebraska, according to Rivals' Tim Verghese. The recruiting analyst added that Brown is already looking at a return visit to Lincoln, and it certainly seems as though the Huskers have managed to not only get their foot in the door, but might have slammed it behind them.

Brown's plan is to come back to see NU in back-to-back weeks. While it's not locked in yet, he would like to see Nebraska take on USC on Saturday night. It's hard to think they aren't massive front-runners when a recruit is that committed to multiple looks at a program so quickly.
It's not hard to see why Nebraska would like to haul Brown in. As a sophomore in 2024, the running back rushed for 612 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He also hauled in 15 receptions for 269 yards and two more scores.
This year, he's got more than 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground in just over half the season.
Should Nebraska win the race for Amir Brown, they'll be beating out some of the best programs in the country, including Notre Dame, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Penn State, Florida State, Louisville, UNC, Indiana, and many others.
