The Nebraska football team is entering a very important period recruiting wise and it looks as though Matt Rhule and his staff are about to land a very important offensive lineman. When 4-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma pulls the trigger on his commitment later today, there are more and more recruiting analysts who believe he’ll call the Cornhuskers name.

On Friday, On3’s Sean Callahan, Steve Wilfong, and Bryan Munson put in the predictions, as the Huskers continued to gain momentum on the recruiting trail. They were joined by Jeffrey Lee a day later. That last entry might be most impressive because Lee usually focuses on Auburn, an SEC Power school that Mpouma singled out as a finalist.

When Mpouma announced he was picking his team on June 29, he also made it clear he was picking between five teams. The Nebraska football team faces off against Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida.

Should Rhule and his staff win this recruiting battle, it would be the second time in the last few weeks, that they have specifically beat off some of the best teams in the country for a 4-star commitment. It would seem to indicate that things will continue to pick up as the summer rolls on.

The Nebraska football team tends to have quite a bit of success when it comes to this kind of head-to-head recruiting battles, especially the closer it gets to December. However, the team has had a lot of success so far in June and would be well served to close out the month by scoring the 6-foot-8, 260 pound Claude Mpouma.
