Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball completes perfect weekend with Wisconsin sweep

The Nebraska Cornhuskers were 3-0 in must win matchups this weekend.

If there has been a weekend for the Nebraska Cornhuskers athletic program like this weekend, it’s been a really long time. Talk about a trifecta.

First there was the Nebrasketball team absolutely dominating the No. 14 Creighton Bluejays on Friday night. That’s the kind of Quad 1 win that will be a big resume builder. How do I know? NU jumped 15 spots in KenPom thanks to the win and is now a respectable No. 49 in those ratings.

Then there was Saturday afternoon. After nearly a decade of sitting home for the postseason, the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is going bowling thanks to a blowout win over the Wisconsin Badgers. Oh and speaking of the badgers, the Huskers’ Volleyball team dominated the No. 6 Wiscy team that used to be such a thorn in their side, sweeping their opponent in straight sets, 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.

Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball completes perfect weekend for the big sports

I do mean sweeping away the Badgers. Not only have the Huskers now beaten Wisconsin twice this year. NU hasn’t lost a single set to Wisconsin.

They haven’t lost a single set to a squad that has been ranked in the Top 10 all season long. In six tries.

John Cook talked about how his squad needed a reboot after they were upset by SMU. They needed to stop thinking that every team was just going to lie down for them. Since he made that statement, the other teams might not have laid down, but they got mowed over.

Since that loss, Cook’s squad has won 25 straight matches. During that period, they’ve lost a grand total of 7 sets. Seven. In 25 matches.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team continues to be rolling. They’ll get to prove they’re undeniably the best in the Big Ten next week when they take on Penn State in their penultimate match of the regular season.

Meanwhile, the football team will face off against Iowa on the same day, going into Niles Kinnick stadium with a giant monkey off their back. And Fred Hoiberg and his crew take on South Dakota on Wednesday. For now and for tomorrow, Nebraska Cornhuskers fans can just enjoy the kind of weekend that doesn’t come around all that often.
