Nebraska Cornhuskers news: Vintage vibes, big belief, and a warning sign for 2026

From a nostalgic license plate to recruiting pressure in Omaha, Nebraska Cornhuskers headlines are heating up again.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team made a fascinating appearance on the deluxe cover of the EA Sports College Football 26 video game. While plenty of players and coaches made the cover, none of them were from the Huskers.

Instead, the way the Huskers made the cover of the game is by using a picture of a fan in some very old clothes, holding up a license plate that says “Beat CU.” That license plate, by the way, is from back when the two teams’ rivalries were in their heyday.

One of those questions makes you wonder if the people behind the game think this generation of fans will only remember the NU-CU rivalry because the two teams just played. Or maybe, the people behind the game remember the good old days. It was an interesting choice for the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ representation.

Rocco Spindler joins the Nebraska Cornhuskers for good reason

When Rocco Spindler transferred to the Nebraska football team from Notre Dame, some people simply didn’t get it. After all, he left the Irish, who were just in the National Title game.

Rocco’s father recently spoke to a Husker podcast about why his son chose the Huskers and why he is definitely on board. The answer is that Rocco believes this Huskers team can win. So does his dad.

Matt Rhule’s in-state recruiting under the microscope again

One of the most interesting aspects of the 2026 recruiting class has been the number of players from Nebraska who are getting pursued by anyone not named the Cornhuskers. Yet another prospect, in Omaha Westside defensive back Bryson Williams, got an offer from Vanderbilt.

It will be interesting how his recruiting shakes out. The Commodores aren’t the only Power 4 program that’s come calling. Hopefully the Nebraska Cornhuskers don’t see that as a problem.
