Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti doubled down on his league's push for a 24-team College Football Playoff on Tuesday, saying the Big Ten can still eliminate its conference championship game in time for a new format to begin in 2027. Pettiti made the comments about the CFP in the opening of the Big Ten Media Days event. He pushed the format while talking about a wide range of subjects but it’s clear he wants thing to go his way badly.
- Nebraska volleyball is set to take on Florida in the inaugural Spikes Under the Lights, a premium women’s college volleyball showcase on Thursday, August 27 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The matchup between the Huskers and Gators is scheduled for 7 pm, followed by Penn State and SMU at 8 pm. The winners of the two matches advance to a championship match at 9 pm Spikes Under the Lights will mark the first women’s collegiate sporting event at AT&T Stadium and feature a $1 million prize purse, the largest ever awarded in women’s college sports. The event comes as women’s volleyball continues to experience significant growth in attendance, viewership and athlete visibility nationwide.

- With Ohio State reportedly the 26th school to forge a jersey patch deal that will see the school rake in millions of dollars every year, the question is not when Nebraska will join the growing trend, but when? - Tony Pettiti wasn’t the only one to speak on Tuesday afternoon at Big Ten Media Days. Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz spoke about his team and, in the process, made it clear that the team is having some serious problems figuring out who the Hawkeyes' quarterback will be this season: “First question obviously is going to be the quarterback position. Bottom line is this: right now we don't know the answer. I can only tell you we'll know the answer when we know it. Hopefully sometime in August that will become apparent. It may be in-season. Can't rule out any possibilities.”
- The Nebraska Cornhuskers might have lost the initial battle for Ahmad Hudson to LSU, but it looks like the fight isn’t over. A new report from 247Sports’ Tom Loy says that while Hudson is committed to the Tigers, he’s still looking at other schools, including taking a fall gameday visit to the Cornhuskers.
