There was a time when it felt like Brice Williams was an unsung hero of the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team. It’s a safe bet that he is no longer anywhere near “unsung”
That’s because on Tuesday, Williams added another national honor from analysts following the team’s trip to Hawaii.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball star was honored with three national player of the week honors in total this week following his most valuable player honors at the Diamond Head Classic tournament. The senior earned one of the five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week nods for the second time in December, while also earning the Luke Olson National Player of the Week.
Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball star get another big honor
On Monday, Andy Katz of NCAA.com awarded Williams his National Player of the Week honor as well.
Williams is currently scoring 19 points per game, but he’s shown that he’s not just a scorer. While he is the guy the Huskers lean on when they need a big basket, he’s managed to give Fred Hoiberg’s squad a little bit of everything.
In addition to those points (and scoring more than 20 points 6 times this year) he’s also averaging 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team is going to need him to continue to produce at a high level as they begin Big Ten play later this week. They’ll start things off in 2025 with a January 4th tilt against No. 15 UCLA.
