The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team will officially open spring practice next month! It always seems strange to be talking about fall practice kicking off before the summer even starts, but such is the way college football works in the year 2025.
With the season drawing closer than anyone realizes, it’s time to really start paying attention to what’s going on with the coach and what he has to say about his team. Rhule recently sat down with the Big Ten Network and said a number of things that will get Husker fans awfully fired up.
"We have to make that jump," Rhule said. "I know every guy in our program, they didn't come here to be 6-6, they didn't come to be average, we want to be a great team." In the same sit-down with Pizzo, Rhule also talked about Dylan Raiola making the jump from year one to year two at Nebraska. Rhule talked about how well Raiola dealt with having to be the starter and in the spotlight as a freshman, and now with more experience, he is ready for year number two. It’s pretty clear he believes his Nebraska Cornhuskers will succeed.
Nebraska Cornhuskers top prospect wins Gatorade Player of the Year
Elkhorn South two-way standout Brody Jindra is a Nebraska baseball commit that could lift the team’s offense and pitching next season. That was demonstrated again when Jindra won Nebraska’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
He’ll be joining the Huskers’ team fresh off a regional appearance that while encouraging overall, ended the same way any regional appearance has ended for Will Bolt’s squad. With a blowout loss.
Baseball players enter the transfer portal
Now that the Nebraska baseball season is over, it’s officially time to plan for the next season. So far, that’s included seeing three players enter the portal. Catcher Kanon Sundgren and pitchers J’Shawn Unger and Aiden Lieser are the first to enter the portal.
Sundgren is a junior who got into one game as a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He saw a bit of action in the team’s 7-4 loss in Game 1 of the Regionals. Unger is a freshman who was No. 1 right-handed pitcher and No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Nebraska by Prep Baseball Report out of Blair, and Lieser was a freshman who redshirted after being the No. 1 right-handed pitcher and No. 17 overall prospect in the state of Minnesota according to Perfect Game.
