The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is on one heck of a heater. On Tuesday night, defensive back Jailen Hill committed to the Huskers, choosing them over Indiana and Washington on the Rivals YouTube channel live.
Hill's commitment to the Cornhuskers continues what’s been an incredible June as NU could end up the month with almost 10 pledges in this period alone. He also becomes the seventh player in the 2027 cycle to be rated 4 stars or higher. According to the 247Sports Composite, the St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) product is ranked as the No. 294 player in the class, the No. 34 cornerback, and the No. 25 player in the state of California.
Hill could be joined very soon by at least one more commit, as Barrett Kitrell is expected to announce his school choice soon. He’s down to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Iowa, and Tennessee as the finalists, and after an official visit to Lincoln last weekend, it’s thought he could announce his commitment in the next few days.
Geep Wade could be the answer for Nebraska Cornhuskers with Barrett Kitrell
Before Geep Wade came to Lincoln this winter, Ashland-Greenwood offensive lineman Barrett Kitrell said he never really heard from former offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. However, when Wade took over the position, he made it a point to recruit the talented IOL hard.
“He’s a really personable guy,” Kitrell told the Omaha World-Herald. “He’ll come down to Ashland and visit me. And during our visits to Nebraska, he’ll show us, ‘these were our linemen before, this is what we’ve done with them.’ That o-line has made some great progress. He’s really been good to me and my family in the process.”
Kitrell says the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Iowa Hawkeyes are running neck-and-neck and at the moment, neither team is taking the lead. However, when a team does take the lead, he’s expected to announce his commitment quickly.

- Taylor, who will play this fall for Millard South, will have a big defensive rival in Millard North defensive back Tory Pittman. Taylor has been working on Pittman for over a year. The Nebraska Cornhuskers coaches have worked on him hard as well after LSU made a big push. However, it appears that the NU coaches have stopped the Bayou Bengals in their tracks and will have another opportunity to nail things down with an official visit this weekend.
- Trae Taylor has so convinced Omaha World-Herald writer Sam McKewon that he’s one of the best quarterbacks in college football that the analyst would pick him over Alabama commit Elijah Haven. In a recent interview, he said Taylor is even more talented than people realize, despite knowing he’s got the goods.
