Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Boozing against the Blue Jays, Big money in the Big Ten, more

The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team found out how and when they'll face off against Big Ten teams this winter. the conference released its official schedules on the Big Ten network on Wednesday afternoon and for the most part, drew a favorable two-player layout.

• The Huskers will have home and home games with Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan State. They'll also host Michigan on January 5, perhaps early enough in the schedule that the defending national champion and its new coach will have gelled.

• In addition to the Nebraska volleyball team sweeping Creighton on Wednesday night, college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein held a huge party at the arena to honor a promise he made about the Huskers and whether they got a win in the NCAA Tournament. Rothstein offered a "Happy Hour" open-bar celebration, which reportedly cost up to $14,458. Needless to say, there was a lot of celebrating on hump day this week.

• Former Nebraska football player Princewill Umanmielen is in the middle of a feud between LSU and Ole Miss. The Rebels are suing the defender, saying he signed a contract before entering the Transfer Portal and after following head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU.

• Princewill was served court papers in the athletic compound's parking lot on Tuesday, and most people believe Ole Miss picked the place and time as part of the gamesmanship ahead of this weekend's showdown between the two teams.

• Earlier this week, Washington announced that one of its starting wide receivers will miss two or three months, meaning he'll also miss the Huskies' game against Nebraska. There are three other Washington players who will miss the foreseeable future and could join him on the sidelines for the Halloween game.

• Nebraska and Notre Dame announced on Wednesday morning that they're reviving an old rivalry and will play a home-and-home series in 2032 and 2033. When the two teams face each other, first in Lincoln and then in South Bend, it will be the first time they've met on the field since 2001.

• The Athletic released a report on Wednesday detailing highly researched roster values for every team at the Power 4 level. The Nebraska Cornhuskers were ranked No. 18 in the country, a level that might surprise some fans who don't think NU can compete with the big boys. That valuation also has them at No. 6 in the Big Ten with a roster valued between $31 and $35 million.
