Broadcasters from all over the country started telling stories of what Greg Sharpe meant to them.
Greg Sharpe was the first broadcaster that I ever took notice of when he was at WIBW, I would sit down and listen to every word.

When I met him 12 years later, I was in awe.
With long term illnesses, you can always say you are prepared but you never are. This hits hard. RIP Greg pic.twitter.com/IvOInVLoax
That included Matt Davison, who worked the radio booth for the Nebraska football team alongside Sharpe.
My broadcast partner and friend for a couple of decades. Greg was an incredible person and friend to so many. I will miss him dearly. Prayers for his amazing family. https://t.co/qcJkZXvkze

Sharpe was truly respected and beloved throughout the state and throughout Nebraska Cornhuskers nation and that was reflected by he was recognized outside the booth.
Our family sat a section away from Greg and family at church and our pastor typically opens up with a “How about them Huskers” after any Husker Athletics win occurred the previous day.

It wasn't just Husker supporters that felt his presence and knew he was a good man. The Big Ten Network sent out their own tribute to one of the best in the business.

On a personal note, I didn't know Greg well but I met him a few times and he was always a kind an engaging person. My own family has been touched by cancer far too often and the last few weeks and months of his illness was unfortunately similar to my own father's.
While Nebraska Cornhuskers fans are saddened by the loss, I know his family is hurting more and I'm sorry they've had to know that kind of pain. Truly, rest in peace, Greg, and thank you for being the best.
