Nebraska Cornhuskers center Justin Evans was honored Thursday, as he was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List. This year, the people putting together the finalist list are working with PFF in order to better choose the players most deserving.
- Evans returns as one of the team leaders for the Huskers this fall, as the East Orange, N.J., native has 31 career starts at Nebraska and has logged 38 career appearances as a Husker. He leads an experienced Husker offensive line that returns a pair of starters in 2026. Last season, he started all 13 games at center, paving the way for Emmett Johnson to earn first-team All-America honors. He started all 12 games at guard in 2024 and played in all 13 games, including five starts, as a redshirt freshman in 2023.
- Former Nebraska great, running back Roger Craig, was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame after a 28-year wait. During Craig's NFL ceremony, the famed running back announced he was suffering from vascular dementia. In a pre-taped speech, he added that he thought several concussions during his playing days might have led to the condition.
- During that taped speech, he made it clear that despite the diagnosis, he hasn't changed as a man: "I want people to know this diagnosis doesn't define me. I am still Roger Craig," he said. "I am still a father, a husband, a teammate, a friend, and someone who loves this game and the people who brought it to my life. If sharing my story helps even one family or one former player, then it's worth it."

- Former Nebraska basketball player Rienk Mast has been named to the Netherlands roster for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Mast is one of four Huskers participating in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifier. Other Nebraska players include Jack McVeigh (Australia), Thorir Thorbjarnarson (Iceland), and Tai Webster (New Zealand).
- ESPN recently put out an article about the floors and ceilings of every Big Ten basketball team. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are expected to have a very good season. Their ceiling, according to ESPN, is 30 wins and a Big Ten title. But the floor is good too. 20 wins, a top-half Big Ten finish, and another NCAA Tournament appearance.

- The Nebraska Cornhuskers have the first fall camp casualty. Freshman wide receiver Larry Miles suffered a lower-leg injury that head coach Matt Rhule says will keep him out for six to eight weeks. That's a big blow for the true freshman, especially since there are no more medical waivers if the injury means he doesn't play this year.
- Well-traveled former Nebraska wide receiver Hardley Gilmore is on the move yet again. This time, his exit from Lexington and the Kentucky Wildcats is not his decision. The troubled wideout was dismissed from new head coach Will Stein's program on Thursday. Just where his career goes from here is anyone's guess.

- The Big Ten voted this week to expand the league’s football travel rosters to 80 for league games. It goes up from 74. The reason is the age-based eligibility rules: there are no longer redshirts, so more players will have the opportunity to play.
- The Detriot Lions are giving former Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive tackle Ben Stille one more chance to expand his NFL career. He was signed and brought to camp on Saturday.
- On Saturday, Matt Rhule announced he has hired Damon Benning to take over for Gus Felder, who was Nebraska's director of football player development in 2024 and 2025. Benning, a former Husker running back, was also part of the football broadcast team last year, but he'll step down from that role.
