The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team is sitting at 11-2 entering its Big Ten schedule thanks to a blowout win in its final warmup of the season. Fred Hoiberg’s squad took on the Southern Jaguars on Monday night in Pinnacle Bank Arena. NU ended up winning the game 77-43.
The Huskers made sure to take care of the Jaguars, especially thanks to a first half in which NU and the gang held their opponent to 15 points in the first half. The team did not play as well in the second half. In fact, they were a bit sloppy, but they were still able to post a 30 point victory in their final warmup.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team has now logged four straight wins since a blowout loss to Michigan State. Each one of those four wins has been by double digits. Though Monday night’s game was the biggest blowout of the bunch.
Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball romp in non-conference finale
As has been the case for most of the season, the Huskers have had different guys step up every night. While Brice Williams was the man in Hawaii, he wasn’t needed to step up against Southern.
On Monday night, it was Connor Essegian who was doing all the scoring. He finished the game with 20 points, and hit 6-of-12 from deep. It was the third time this season that Essegian scored 20 points and the 7th time he scored double digits.
Not everything was perfect for the Huskers as they turned the ball over a whopping 14 times. It seems likely they had a problem keeping focus when they spent most of the night with a big lead.
Next up for the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team is a Big Ten conference that is going to be quite hard to navigate through. On January 4, NU takes on No. 15 UCLA as NU will welcome the Bruins to PBA.
