The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team delivered a thrilling win over Illinois on Thursday night, and they may have had a little extra luck on their side. Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was in attendance, and with his winning pedigree in the building, the Huskers battled through adversity to secure a clutch victory.

In fact, considering that Taylor was in attendance to watch the Huskers notch their first win in seven contests, there might be a demand for the NFL head coach to be in attendance for the rest of the season.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ head coach Fred Hoiberg had talked earlier in the week about how the game against the Illini was now officially their “Super Bowl” because it was a game they simply had to win in order to keep up any hopes of a postseason. One has to wonder if Hoiberg knew ahead of time that a coach who had actually been in the Super Bowl was going to watch them play on Thursday night.

Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball wins with a very special guest in attendance

It’s not a stretch to say that the Nebraska basketball team needed to get that win in order to have any shot at making the NCAA Tournament. It was one of those games that was against a good enough opponent that it helped their resume.

It was also a winnable game, being in Pinnacle Bank Arena. And the Huskers followed through with a big win. At the very least, former NU quarterback and NFL Head coach Zac Taylor got to take in one heck of a scene. And the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team walked away with a massive “W.”
