Fresh off a big win over the Southern Jaguars, there is one big question circling the Nebraska Cornhuskers. When will NU be getting point guard Ahron Ulis back from injury?
On Tuesday, head coach Fred Hoiberg offered an encouraging update, though it looks like there’s still some serious unknowns when it comes to when the guard might be back in the regular rotation.
Uhlis hasn’t logged a minute for the Nebraska Cornhuskers since December 13. That means he missed the entirety of the Diamondhead Classic tournament. He also missed Monday night’s 30+ point win.
Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach offers update on point guard Ahron Ulis
“Ahron’s making progress,” Hoiberg told the media on Tuesday. “He’ll get a light workout in tomorrow and then most likely do some non contact work on Wednesday and we’ll see how he responds to that.”
The injury is a setback not just for the guard because of injury reasons but because he was just starting to work his way back into playing shape after missing all of last season.
With Ulis getting closer to a return, Nebraska will get another key piece back for its lineup. Hoiberg has certainly pushed all of the right buttons for the Huskers, winners of five straight.
After some rough seasons, Hoiberg is 74-96 overall at Nebraska, but is now 44-13 dating back to last season.
The turnaround has been so good, Nebraska extended Hoiberg’s contract through the 2028-29 season. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are also looking like a tournament team for the second straight season.
