Nebraska Cornhuskers suffer second half collapse against top-ranked UCLA

The Nebraska Cornhuskers faced a tough challenge on Sunday night, traveling to Los Angeles to take on the No. 1 UCLA Bruins. Despite a strong first-half effort, the Huskers couldn’t keep up in the second half, ultimately falling 91-54 to the top-ranked Bruins.

Nebraska held their ground in the opening half, heading into the break trailing just 37-30. However, the tide turned in the third quarter, with UCLA outscoring the Huskers 31-13 to take firm control of the game. The Bruins solidified their victory with a dominant 23-11 performance in the fourth quarter.

UCLA’s efficiency was on full display, shooting an impressive 33-of-59 from the field, including a scorching 19-of-26 in the second half. They also dominated the boards, pulling down 48 rebounds. In contrast, the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball team struggled offensively, managing just 19-of-57 shooting while grabbing 18 rebounds.

Freshman Amiah Hargrove Shines for Nebraska Cornhuskers

Freshman Amiah Hargrove was a bright spot for the Huskers, leading the team in scoring. She was the only Nebraska player to reach double digits, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from both the field and the free-throw line.

The loss drops Nebraska to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Huskers will remain in Los Angeles as they prepare for their next matchup against the USC Trojans on New Year’s Day. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. CT tipoff and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.

While this was a tough loss for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, it’s an opportunity for the team to regroup and focus on the challenges ahead as they continue their season.
