As the Nebraska basketball team continues to try and reload for the 2025-26 season, another player has come into view as a target for the roster. When taking a look at the skillset that CJ Luster II offers, it’s hardly a surprise that Fred Hoiberg and company would love to bring him into Lincoln.

The problem is that the Huskers have quite a bit of competition for Luster, who in one season at Stony Brook put up the kind of numbers that Power programs will drool over. While the Cornhuskers are interested and have reached out, according to 247Sports Sam Kayser, so have more than a dozen other teams.

In addition to the Nebraska basketball program, Luster has reportedly heard from Louisville, Mississippi State, Arizona State, LSU, UCF, New Mexico, Wichita State, Boise State, San Francisco, Western Kentucky, UNCW, Arkansas State, Pepperdine, LMU, Pacific, Nevada And St. Joseph’s.

Nebraska basketball put feelers out for long-range sharpshooter

The good news is that if Luster is interested in moving away from even mid-major programs, the Huskers could stand out as being a member of the Big Ten. The bad news is that the Louisville Cardinals are also very interested and the ACC upstart seems to have quite a bit of NIL coin at their disposal.

It’s hardly a shock the 6' 3", 165-pound guard out of Denton, Texas is highly sought after. This past season, he averaged 16.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. What really makes him attractive to the Nebraska basketball is his 42.1% shooting from beyond the arc. His 86.5% shooting at the free throw line is a nice bonus as well.
