It’s been a busy couple of days for the Nebraska basketball program. Fresh off their win in the CBC Tournament where they earned hundreds of thousands of dollars for their NIL efforts, it appears Fred Hoiberg and company are putting the extra money to good use.
Just a few days after the Huskers brought back Jamarques Lawrence from a year away with the Rhode Island Rams, the school brought in two more players from the transfer portal. One of those players was an in-state kid who spent a year with Air Force. The other is an under the radar scorer who could boost the Cornhuskers’ three-point shooting next season.

The first addition to the Nebraska basketball team on Wednesday was forward Will Cooper, an Omaha native who appeared in 21 games for the Falcons and averaged 15.2 minutes, and 5.3 points per contest. It’s likely Cooper will add some depth to a team that needs some bodies. The second portal signing is a bit bigger in statute in the form of former St. Thomas guard, Kendall Blue.
Nebraska basketball adds Kendall Blue and Will Cooper in busy portal stretch
247Sports’ Matt Zenitz was among the first to report that Blue was headed to Nebraska after spending three seasons with the Tommies. The guard has gotten better every year he’s played, culminating in 2024-25’s campaign where he averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Blue also shot 51% from the field and a whopping 41.7% (55-of-132). Blue and Cooper are officially the 4th and 5th additions from the transfer portal.
The Nebraska basketball team has also lost two transfers so far as Gavin Griffiths departs after transferring in from Rutgers this time last year. He was joined by freshman guard Nick Janowski on Tuesday morning. Janowski redshirted this past season and was a prized high school recruit by Hoiberg two years ago.
