The Nebraska basketball team didn't play particularly well in the first half of its game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday. However, the team went on some epic runs in the second half in order to get their 20th win against zero losses this season.
After the game, Gophers' head coach Niko Medved confirmed what it looked like on the court. The Huskers didn't just make a run in the second half. They overwhelmed the Gophers and beat them down en route to outscoring them 46-21 in the second half, and at one point, going on a 37-10 streak.
"I thought for the first time down the stretch they kind of looked like they lost their spirit," Medved said about his team after the game. "I thought Nebraska really kind of broke us here (Saturday). That hasn't happened to this team in a long time."
Nebraska basketball’s second-half run overwhelmed Minnesota
The Huskers managed to "break" Minnesota without one of their best players. Braden Frager was out after spraining his ankle against Washington last week. It looked like NU was feeling his absence in the first half, then they remembered who they were and beat the Gophers down.
"We just got punked," Gophers forward Jaylen Crocker-Johnson told the media after Saturday's game. "They made some runs that affected us on the offensive end."
It's hardly the first time that Nebraska has put together a second-half run against a team that was leading at the break. It's becoming one of the hallmarks of the 2025-26 campaign. But not every team has admitted the Huskers broke their will the way Niko Medved did.
