Pryce Sandfort was a heck of a recruiting win all on his own for the Nebraska basketball program. Head coach Fred Hoiberg couldn't have known that once the dead-eye forward signed on, he'd be the school's biggest recruiting ace. And yet, for the second straight year, it appears the Huskers have Sandfort to thank for landing a key piece to their next roster in Boden Kapke.

Kapke, a transfer forward from Boston College, pulled the trigger on his commitment over the weekend. Not long after joining the Huskers, he credited Sandfort as being a big part of his recruitment and playing with him again as part of the draw to Lincoln.

Pryce Sandfort played lead recruiter for Nebraska basketball in pursuit of Boden Kapke

According to On3's Robin Washut, Sandfort was one of the first people to reach out to Kapke when he hit the Transfer Portal. It seems likely that if the forward (who announced his return for one more season not long ago) wasn't the first phone call from Nebraska, it came just after Hoiberg's initial recruiting call. The two were AAU teammates back in their high school days and will now team up once again.

"Pryce definitely was very involved throughout the process... It was really cool," Kapke told Washut.

Pryce Sandfort helped Nebraska reel in Colin Rice

Nebraska basketball also has Sandfort to thank for an assist in landing 2026 signee Colin Rice (one of the better prospects the Huskers have ever signed), as both played their high school ball at Iowa's Waukee Northwest.

This fall and winter, the two Iowa natives will team up for Nebraska basketball alongside Boden Kapke and a ton of new and returning talent. Hopefully Pryce Sandfort will lead the Huskers to uncharted territory for the program for the second straight year as well.
