The Nebraska basketball team has already made quite a few moves in order to try and rebuild so that they can go to the NCAA Tournament rather than the CBC. It looks as though the Cornhuskers are looking to add at least one more piece to the puzzle.

Steve Marik is reporting that NU is hosting one transfer forward from Utah this weekend. Should the visit go well, it could lead to Fred Hoiberg hauling in six portal players. Considering he loses Brice Williams, Juwan Gary, Rollie Worster, Braxton Meah, Andrew Morgan and Ahron Ulis to graduation, he’s got some holes to fill. The transfers of Gavin Griffiths and Nick Janowsk added two more.

Ezra Ausar is on the move after one season with the Utah Utes. Before that he spent two seasons with the East Carolina Pirates. Now the Nebraska basketball program is trying to lure him in and bolster their front court with his 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

On interesting aspect of this particular target is that he is not in any way, a good 3-point shooter. However, it looks like Ausar could be a nice replacement for Morgan or Meah as he stands around 6-foot-8.

He’s also someone who is known to play well close to the basket. He’s especially shown an ability to get to the rim and get fouled. He averaged 6.4 free-throw attempts per game, which ranked 41st in the country in 2024-25.

So far, the Nebraska basketball team has five transfers including Iowa wing Pryce Sandfort, Central Michigan big Ugnius Jarusevicius, Rhode Island guard (and former Husker) Jamarques Lawrence, Air Force wing Will Cooper and St. Thomas guard Kendall Blue. Should they add Ezra Ausar they would basically be plugging all the holes from departures this past season.
