Looking to take advantage of Nebraska basketball's historic season, head coach Fred Hoiberg had one of the best prospects in the 2027 recruiting class in Lincoln on Monday. Donovan Davis hit town fresh off a visit to Iowa, and the two rival schools seem to be fostering quite the recruiting rivalry in basketball to boot.

Davis has had a busy few weeks as he nears the home stretch of his recruitment. In addition to Iowa and Nebraska, the 4-star power forward previously hit Wisconsin. He also plans to visit Marquette and Iowa State later this week.

Davis, a native of Kaukauna, Wis., plays at Freedom High School and is the 42nd-best prospect in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward is also considered the No. 7 PF in his class and the No. 2 player in Wisconsin. Nebraska is squeezing in the visit from Davis while it still works on bringing in at least one more transfer player from the portal.

While Davis' home-state Badgers may seem to have an edge on the surface, the Hawkeyes and Huskers are both serious contenders to land his talents for their 2027 classes. Davis is a high-level skill player on the offensive side of the court, with the size and length to excel defensively as well.

Interestingly, the Cornhuskers seem to be making a concerted effort to recruit Wisconsin better. Donovan Davis is the third player from the state to visit Lincoln this month. Chase Richardson and Jack Kohnen paid visits to the Capital City last week.

It's safe to say that after Ben McCollum scored a portal win with Ty'Reek Coleman, not long after he visited Nebraska, Fred Hoiberg would like to return the favor. Unfortunately, it's not clear when Donovan Davis might pull the trigger on his commitment.
