While most of the talk these days is about how Matt Rhule and his staff are recruiting, Fred Hoiberg and his team are also working on filling out future editions of the Nebraska basketball program. A significant step forward for Hoiberg and company is hosting an Iowa prospect on campus recently in Colin Rice. Rice isn't just an Iowa prospect but someone the Huskers hope they can have the inside track on.

While Rice played things mostly close to the vest, he did talk to Hail Varsity about how he came to Lincoln and what he liked most about his stay.

4-star Iowa wing Colin Rice praises Nebraska basketball visit, cites trust in Hoiberg staff

What really stood out was the trust factor. Rice told the site, "I like their honesty with me. I know I can trust them, things that they say. They’ve been through this. Fred knows what he’s doing, Nate knows what he’s doing.”

It seems that the trust factor did encourage Rice to open up a bit about how much he enjoyed his trip to see Nebraska.

"The Nebraska visit was great. The people there are really awesome. I love Fred, I love Nate (Loenser). I’ve known them for a while now.”

Loenser is an assistant stepping into a larger role after changes in the Nebraska basketball staff.

At 6-foot-8 and 180 pounds, Rice has the frame of a future wing that can also play as a stretch big, with enough length and athleticism to guard multiple positions. He is ranked No. 121 nationally, No. 44 at small forward, and No. 3 in Iowa by the 247Sports Composite. Rice brings legitimate upside. Offers from Iowa, Northwestern, Colorado, and Illinois reflect his talent.

Nebraska basketball is hoping to continue making headway for Colin Rice and eventually secure one of the more talented wings in the country.
