Nebraska baseball has been going through quite the reshaping over the last few weeks. Now Will Bolt’s squad is adding another talent from the Division II level. This time, it’s former Missouri Western pitcher Lynden Bruegman.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder went 3-5 with a 4.26 ERA in 12 appearances last season for Missouri Western. In 50.2 innings, Bruegman struck out 68 and walked 44 with opponents hitting .210 off him on the season.

Nebraska baseball adds Lincoln native Lynden Bruegman to revamped 2026 rotation

Bruegman throws a four-pitch mix, including a fastball that touches 92 miles per hour, a slider, curveball and changeup, and will have one season of eligibility remaining. He played his high school baseball at Lincoln North Star. Now he gets to come home to play for the Nebraska baseball team.

Bruegman is the latest addition out of the portal for the Huskers, who have also added Miami of Ohio pitcher Cooper Katskee, Augustana (S.D.) starter J.D. Hennen and Mississippi State starter Kevin Mannell. It’s possible this could be one of the last guys that Bolt adds to the roster from the portal, considering it closes on July 1.

While any player in the portal can still pick a team after that, anyone who isn’t in the portal by then, has decided to stick with their current team. While the class hasn’t been the most impressive at first glance, it appears he’s putting together a team that he feels like are good fits for what he wants to do in 2026.

The Nebraska baseball team has been plenty active. Now it’s worth seeing what happens in what could be a make or break season for the Cornhuskers’ head coach.
