The Nebraska football team is still months away from kicking off the 2025 season, but the Huskers are already looking ahead to the 2026 schedule. Of course, one reason they’re already looking ahead is because NU made some changes, getting rid of the home-and-home series against Tennessee.
In the place of the Volunteers, the Huskers went out and scheduled a contest against Bowling Green. The game between the two teams is the first meeting in the history of either program.
The Nebraska football team has gone out of its way to have a non-conference schedule that’s not that difficult, and it would appear that after the 2025 game against Cincinatti, it appears NU won’t be scheduling many Power conference opponents outside of the Big Ten.

With those changes, the non-conference schedule features:
- September 5 vs Ohio
- September 12 vs Bowling Green
- September 19 vs North Dakota
The Huskers also know their conference opponents, though just when the games will take place hasn’t been scheduled yet. We do also know what games will be in Memorial and which will be on the road.

At first glance, it would seem the game in Eugene will be the toughest game on the schedule, with the rest of the road contests not exactly a murder’s row.
When it comes to the 2026 Nebraska football schedule, the toughest home game, if we’re judging by how things are now, will be the visit from Ohio State.
