After nearly every quarterback left Nebraska through the transfer portal, the Cornhuskers are now locked and loaded when it comes to that position with their latest addition. Head coach Matt Rhule certainly has been through it with the portal, especially with former Notre Dame quarterbackKenny Minchey committing to Nebraska and then signing with Kentucky.
Since then, Rhule brought in UNLV transfer Anthony Colandrea and just recently received a late commitment from 2026 quarterback Tanner Vidbabul. The Las Vegas native will come to Nebraska as a three-star recruit and will bring his dual-threat ability to the Cornhuskers' offense.

There are now four guys in the quarterback room for Nebraska, including Vidbabul, Colandra, and TJ Lateef, who is returning to the Cornhuskers. If Rhule wanted a quarterback battle in 2026, he certainly has the guys to do it now.
Vidbabul is a little more like Lateef in the sense of his dual-threat ability. Coming in at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he has speed and the size to break through tackles and get the ball down the field. This is a late commitment as most players in the Class of 2026 are already signed, and some are already even with the team.
Nebraska has many options at the quarterback position in 2026
Rhule will have his pick of quarterbacks in 2026 after the departure of Dylan Raiola in the transfer portal this season. Raiola will be staying in the Big Ten, it looks like, as he is heading to Eugene with the Oregon Ducks.
While it seems like the starting job could go to Colandrea, especially coming in as a transfer, that isn't guaranteed either. Lateef is coming back and will be the only quarterback to have experience in Nebraska's offense. If Lateef wants the job, though, he will have to compete for it.
Lateef started the last few games for Nebraska after Raiola's injury, but was only able to get a win against UCLA, which was his first start. Now he will have a full offseason to work, and spring practices will be very telling.
