When it comes to Nebraska football and the 2027 recruiting class, it's hard to tell who's working harder to bring in the best talent in the country, the coaches or quarterback commit Trae Taylor. Maybe we need to call it a wash and point out that both sides are working quite hard to reel in guys like offensive lineman Matt Erickson.

On the same day that a story that Erickson was starting to favor the Cornhuskers or Iowa State, Taylor jumped into the fray. And in the process, he also made sure that he didn't leave out one of the best players in the entire state just out there hanging.

Trae Taylor’s social-media pitch turns up the Nebraska football heat on Matt Erickson and Tory Pittman

Greg Smith of Rivals posted on Twitter that the Nebraska football team and Iowa State are the two programs that are pursuing Matt Erickson the hardest. It took no time at all for Taylor to repost Smith and added, "Who Better to help me win on and off the field than Matt Erickson and Tory Pittman? Mission keep both home in full affect."

The Huskers have been after the NU legacy for quite a while. That includes having the son of former Cornhusker Mike Erickson in for a game last fall. Turns out they picked the perfect game for him to come watch.

"I had an incredible time visiting Nebraska for the Colorado game, "Erickson said. "The atmosphere in Memorial Stadium was electric, and the passion of the fans was unmatched. I continue to be impressed by the coaching staff and the team’s energy. It definitely gave me a strong sense of how special it would be to play there."

Erickson is a still-growing offensive tackle from Millard North (Omaha, NE) who is currently measuring around 6-foot-7 and 283 pounds. He's currently the No. 4 player in the state of Nebraska, but that's more impressive than it was even a few years ago. When you consider that Tory Pittman is a 5-star prospect and is the No. 1 player in the state, it sheds some light on how much better in-state talent has been the last few years.

Between the pressure being put on Erickson and Pittman by the Nebraska football coaches and their quarterback commit, the Huskers could be getting some more 2027 commits soon.
