Latest Matt Rhule interview leaves more questions than answers about Dylan Raiola

The Nebraska head coach is pretty adamant about not speaking about the future of players in the program.

The biggest question that faces Nebraska in the next few weeks will be whether or not they will have a new quarterback starting for them in 2026. After quarterback Dylan Raiola went down with a leg injury more than halfway through the 2025 season, there has been a lot of speculation about whether or not he will stay in Lincoln.

Rumors have flown about Raiola intending to enter the transfer portal, but no official statement has been made by Raiola or those around him. Head coach Matt Rhule has been asked numerous times in press conferences about the status of Raiola's future at Nebraska, and time and time again, he has chosen not to comment on it.

When first asked about the rumors, Rhule said he hadn't even seen what was being talked about. Now, Rhule seems to be avoiding the questions instead of coming out and answering them.

Matt Rhule refuses to give straight answer on Dylan Raiola's future

It is completely fair that Rhule may not have any knowledge of whether or not Raiola is planning to transfer or not, but the way he is now answering the question just feels like he is avoiding it. In his latest press conference, when the topic came up regarding Raiola choosing to transfer, especially after the firing of his uncle and offensive line coach, Donovan Raiola, Rhule seemed really flighty.

"I'm so sorry, but you guys know that I'm not going to talk about any player's future, like I'm just not doing that," Rhule said. "That's their job, right?"

It feels like Rhule may know something, but doesn't want to be the one to share the information. Granted, it is the job of the players to announce their intention to enter the portal, but Rhule is just fumbling over his words and completely avoiding the question at this point.

If Raiola does decide to transfer, at least backup quarterback TJ Lateef got some good game experience this season, and Nebraska could hand the reins to him, unless they find a quarterback in the transfer portal as well.
