Jacory Barney said what Nebraska fans wanted to hear after taking down the Spartans

Nebraska's comeback win against Michigan State proved something about this team, and Jacory Barney is keying in on that.

Last season, if Nebraska was down by two scores in the fourth quarter, it was almost certain that the Cornhuskers weren't going to win the game. This past offseason, head coach Matt Rhule worked with his team to make sure those losses would turn into wins this season, and it seems to have paid off this past weekend.

After going up 14-0 in the first quarter, the Cornhuskers allowed Michigan State to score 21 unanswered points to take a touchdown lead in the third quarter. Then Nebraska went and did something no one thought they would do and scored 24 straight points between the end of the third quarter and the fourth quarter to take a huge lead late and complete the comeback win.

Speaking after the game, wide receiver Jacory Barney loves what this team is doing in not just how they are playing now, but leaving the past in the past and bringing a new age of Nebraska football to the forefront.

"We're tired of the past," Barney said in his post-game press conference. "We just want to bring this back, bring Nebraska back, we're doing it."

This is what fans have been waiting to see from Nebraska, especially after the loss to Michigan before the bye week. The Cornhuskers are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Big Ten, which is certainly better than they were at this time last season.

Rhule seems to be showing again that year three is his magic number. In the past, whenever Rhule has been at a school, the third season is always when things take a turn for the best, and right now it feels like Nebraska is on that trajectory as well. The only problem going forward is that Nebraska no longer has a ranked matchup on its schedule, with Penn State falling out of the rankings.

The Cornhuskers will need to either win the rest of their games by a big margin to have a chance at the College Football Playoff, or hope someone slips back into the rankings.
