Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers landed Danny Odem's commitment in June of this year. A few days ago, he made his commitment final, shutting down his recruitment.
Then, in an even better turn of events, Odem, who was a four-star cornerback when he first committed to the Cornhuskers, received his fifth star in the latest rankings by Rivals and On3.
Odem is the No. 14 cornerback in the class of 2026 and the No. 16 prospect out of the state of Florida. Simply put, his commitment to Nebraska was a huge step in the right direction for Rhule's upcoming class, and his five-star status only cements that further.
Danny Odem's 5-star status is great news for Nebraska
Odem is the highest-rated player in the Cornhuskers' class of 2026 recruits, and is the only five-star prospect that Nebraska has landed.

With his five-star status, Odem's commitment points Nebraska in the right direction to land more blue-chip talent in the upcoming recruiting class. So far, Rhule has landed just nine commitments from the class, including Odem.
Nebraska class of 2026 recruits
- Danny Odem, five-star cornerback
- Claude Mpouma, four-star offensive tackle
- Nalin Scott, three-star wide receiver
- Larry Miles, three-star wide receiver
- Luke Sorensen, three-star tight end
- Jamal Rule, three-star running back
- Hayden Ainsworth, three-star interior offensive lineman
- Rex Waterman, three-star interior offensive lineman
- Jase Reynolds, three-star linebacker
So far, the Cornhuskers have landed the No. 18 class in the Big Ten (yes, that's dead last), and it ranks 74th in the country. Just a year ago, Rhule brought in the 21st nationally ranked class, which landed Nebraska at sixth in the conference standings.
As the recruits continue to flow in, Rhule and his recruiting staff should now feel more confident targeting the higher-rated targets because they've already landed a recruit who is now labeled as a five-star athlete.
