Don’t count Nebraska football quarterback Dylan Raiola among the exodus of players on the first day of the transfer portal being open. In fact, after whispers and rumors for weeks that the former 5-star quarterback might have had enough of Lincoln, he ended every rumor in one fell swoop.
Raiola took to social media on Monday night to announce that he was “all in” and just in case people might think he meant “in the portal” he added a GBR, which of course means Go Big Red.
Of course, the fact that Dylan Raiola also posted a picture of him in his Nebraska football uniform, its unlikely anyone was really confused about what his message meant. It’s also not a huge surprise. While there were rumors that the quarterback might be looking elsewhere, it doesn’t feel as though there was ever a big chance of that happening.
Nebraska football keeps its quarterback as Dylan Raiola is staying in Lincoln
That’s not to say that the signal caller wasn’t feeling some pressure behind the scenes. In the era of NIL and more brazen tampering there was some serious pushing for Raiola to go elsewhere.
It’s a safe bet that Matt Rhule and his staff are more than a little happy that he issued this statement on the first day that the portal opened. With it being open until December 28, the start quarterback making the announcement right away means the Nebraska football program isn’t waiting on pins and needles. It also takes away the ability for other programs to use negative recruiting on transfer targets.
