Dylan Raiola and Nebraska players took the loss to Minnesota harder than expected

It feels as though the Nebraska football season is teetering on the edge. If the Huskers win on Saturday against Northwestern, they improve to 6-2 and reverse what's been a concerning trend under Matt Rhule when his teams get to five wins. Lose, and that trend continues, and everyone gets very, very nervous.

It's not just fans who were concerned over a bad loss to a mediocre Minnesota team last Friday. Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola confirmed he and his teammates held a "players only meeting" after the 24-6 loss. Raiola has spent this season showing he's a leader, and the announcement of the meeting was another sign of that.

Any Nebraska fans that might get even more nervous about something like a "players only" meeting taking place during a 5-2 season might be justified. It's never good when it gets to that situation. Raiola seems to know that, but he also felt as though it was needed before things spun out of control.

"The team’s p---- off, and super eager to get it fixed," Raiola said when he met with the media earlier this week.

We told every truth possible," Raiola said, adding that despite tough conversations, he's confident the group will get things corrected moving forward. "We don't want that to happen, but it was necessary, so we got it done."

Raiola didn't share any more details about the meeting, nor should he have. Hopefully, whatever was discussed did, in fact, rid the team of whatever happened against the Golden Gophers.

The pressure for a 5-2 Nebraska football team is surprisingly high. They're playing a Northwestern team that is playing like a team with nothing to lose, and on a four-game winning streak. Saturday morning will be very, very interesting.
