Nebraska football wide receiver Dane Key might be new to Lincoln, but he’s excited to get to work with his new quarterback, Huskers star Dylan Raiola. He’s so excited in fact, that he is just the latest to believe that Raiola and the team in general are poised to take a big step forward in 2025.
Key transferred to Nebraska from the Kentucky Wildcats in December. He is coming off a season that saw him record 47 catches for 715 yards and two touchdowns. He had two games of over 100 receiving yards, becoming one of the most explosive offensive weapons for the Wildcats in 2024.
Dane Key believes Dylan Raiola has everything Nebraska needs to take the next step
So why did Key leave Kentucky after all that success? It turns out that a rather significant part of it was what he feels Raiola and the Nebraska football team have to offer. He detailed why he came to Lincoln recently, to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Talked with @DaneKey06 about leaving Kentucky. He told @On3sports the decision came down to finding consistency. He found that at Nebraska & with Dylan Raiola.

"He doesn’t stop working. That’s what you want out of your quarterback. ... Dylan’s special."https://t.co/csXtgWK3hg pic.twitter.com/9O4ly3r3gT
“He’s just the total quarterback,” Key said. “He’s a leader. Everybody respects him around the building, not only because he’s the quarterback. The kid’s got a great work ethic. He doesn’t stop working. That’s what you want out of your quarterback.”
You also want to hear that about your quarterback. And because it’s coming from a guy who has now played for a few different quarterbacks, the words carry a bit more weight.
The Nebraska football team went into the transfer portal more than they have under Matt Rhule before 2024. Key was just one of the … key additions for the Huskers as they look to reload and make a run for more than just a bowl game in 2025. Key as the veteran wide receiver capable of putting up big numbers, is going to be an interesting pairing with fellow transfer receiver Nyziah Hunter, and then, of course, Dylan Raiola.
