One of the biggest stories surrounding Nebraska football and Dylan Raiola is the kind of season most experts expect him to have in 2025. However, it’s important to point out that one of the reasons they expect this campaign to be so good is because Husker offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen is here now. He’s thought to be someone who is a quarterback whisperer who can help the Husker QB grow and develop.
Holgorsen, for the record, believes that he can help Raiola too. He thinks he knows why his second half of 2024 wasn’t anywhere near as good as the first half.
Holgorsen: Raiola poised for big sophomore leap for Nebraska football after “freshman wall” fix
“When I got here, Dylan (Raiola) was hitting that freshman wall a little bit — so much was asked of him,” the Nebraska football OC reportedly told On3. “Remember, it was Year 1 for Dylan in the Big Ten, with that rugged schedule. It really caught up to him. He was a little overwhelmed, and we had to take a deep breath and give him the confidence to be able to get through the season, and we did that successfully.”
Holgorsen believes people are going to see a big change in Raiola.
“We’ve gone through our offense three different times with the guys since the season ended. With OTAs in the winter, with spring football, then with summer, we’ve communicated what we’re going to do three separate times. So, Dylan’s in a very good headspace in terms of what the offense is. He looks good. He feels good. He’s leading at an elite level. I just think Year 2 for him is going to be a little bit different.”
The Nebraska football offense is expecting Dylan Raiola to be better. The coaching staff believes he’ll take a big step forward in his sophomore season. Here’s hoping Holgorsen is right and the young quarterback can really show people what he can do.
