Concerns deepen over Malachi Coleman's status with Nebraska football
The Nebraska football team has been on quite the rollercoaster this season. There was the 5-1 start and then there was the four straight losses to fall back to 5-5.
There was the replacement of Marcus Satterfield at offensive coordinator and then there was the hope and excitement of the Huskers’ offense in a second game under Dana Holgorsen’s tutelage. There’s the rise of at least one young offensive star who is supposedly going to see quite a bit of focus against Wisconsin, and there’s the worry that one young star might be on his way out of town.
Malachi Coleman has spent the entire season riding the pine. Head coach Matt Rhule has said the idea has always been to redshirt him this season. However, the rumors have been quite insistent of late that he’s planning on entering the transfer portal. And when he was asked about it on Thursday, Rhule didn’t exactly put that fire out.
Nebraska football could be on verge of losing young receiver
In fact, Rhule refused to comment at all. While he didn mention that Clark was impressing coaches of late, when he was asked about Coleman potentially leaving, He said it wasn’t appropriate to talk about such things when the focus should be on the seniors for their last home game.
While he’s not wrong. The lack of any comment seems to spell trouble. The lack of any comment from Coleman may be more telling.
The young man hasn’t had any qualms about squashing false rumors before. Granted, he’s been totally silent on social media since the season started.
The bottom line is that the transfer portal in just a few weeks. If Malachi Coleman intends to transfer, Nebraska football fans will find out soon enough. For now, there’s quite a bit of concern he’ll make an exit.
