Former Nebraska football star Cam Jurgens got to play in the Super Bowl last year with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, when he played in that game, he was very banged up and was, in fact, expected to be shut down. Then he played in 91% of the snaps for the eventual World Champions. Now, still a limited participant, the offensive lineman is getting closer to 100%. He wants to get back to full go for the Eagles.
"The last thing I had out there in the season was surgery," Jurgens said earlier this week. “Right now it’s just time to get back in football [and] see how it’s feeling."
Post-surgery rehab puts former Nebraska football star Cam Jurgens on track for full participation in camp
"Right now it’s feeling good," the former Nebraska football star said. "But with every injury, you have to progress slowly and hopefully get back to where you want to be. It’s going good so far."
Some of the reasons that Jurgens was willing to play through pain, pain that needed surgery, that's taken months to recover from, are that he was stepping into the shoes of one of the biggest names in the business. Now that Jason Kelce is retired, the former Eagles star is almost certainly a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Heading into his fourth season with Philly, the former Nebraska football star understands the mantle he's carrying. "I think it comes from the level and standard being so high that you just don’t want to let people down and when you have a close bond to the guys in the room that you do and you care about them, you just don’t want to let them down."
