Say whatever you want about Nebraska football recruiting for the 2026 class, what Matt Rhule and his crew are doing with the 2027 class can only be described as a "heater." That heat streak continued earlier this week when a 4-star defensive back, Aaryn Washington, named the Huskers among his Final Five.

Washington is rated a 92 by 247Sports, placing him among the top defensive backs in the 2027 recruiting class. Nationally, he ranks No. 50 overall and is the No. 8 cornerback in the country. Hailing from California, he also holds the No. 5 spot in the state rankings, showcasing his elite status on both regional and national scales. On3 has judged him similarly, putting the CB inside their Top 100 players in the entire class at No. 79.

Nebraska might have made the cut with Washington. However, it still has quite the fight on its hands as the other four are Alabama, Ohio State, Washington, and USC.

Nebraska football recruiting heater continues as Aaryn Washington narrows his list to 5

The California corner has missed half his junior season with an injury. However, he's still shown the flashes that made him one of the best recruits in the class.

It should come as no surprise that USC is the unofficial favorite in the clubhouse to land the player, considering he's made at least three unofficial visits. However, Washington did take an unofficial trip to Lincoln at the beginning of November.

The Nebraska football target is expected to make a commitment announcement in January. The Huskers have at least a one-in-five shot of getting yet another top prospect out of a class where they're having all kinds of success.
