Nebraska football has been getting more and more predictions that they’re about to sew up a commitment from their top transfer portal target.

The Huskers are in unchartered territory. With some fans excited at the talent that the transfer portal can bring to a program, while others are unhappy and perplexed of the decision of some players wanting to leave their school.

When the dismay is coming from the opinion of Urban Meyer, then the departure seems more like a testament as to how good he is, and how much his former program would love for him to stay.

On the same day that Kyle McCord visited with Nebraska football staff in Lincoln, Sean Callahan from Husker Online, projected Memorial Stadium to be McCord’s home playground for the upcoming 2024 season.

What drove a 12-game starter from a powerhouse Big Ten school to want to leave in the first place? That remains unknown. After not exactly receiving a ringing endorsement following a lone, close loss to their rivals up north, it is possible that he wanted to find a more supportive environment. He threw for over 3,000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only six interceptions in 2023.

Part of what is intriguing for excited fans is the prospect of Kyle McCord bringing along fellow wide receiver teammate Julian Fleming with him. With the two even discussing taking visits to schools together, it seems like a foregone conclusion that McCord and Fleming will be playing for the same school next year.

Wherever they elect to play next year, any program will instantly receive the most electric passing connection in college football with their arrival.
