Nebraska Football target exploring options after Jimbo Fisher firing
The Nebraska Football team might have a new opening with Debron Gatling after Jimbo Fisher was fired by Texas A&M on Sunday.
All is fair in love and recruiting. Nebraska Football needs to live by that adage when it comes to Debron Gatling.
The 3-star wide receiver was one of the first Texas A&M recruits to react on social media when the Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher. To say that he didn’t react all that positively would be an understatement.
Gatling first tweeted out nothing more than an emoji. It wasn’t hard to at to make out what the point of that was. He clearly wasn’t happy that he’d just lost the head coach he’d committed to when he decided to be an Aggie.
If he was initially unhappy, it doesn’t appear that it’s something that wore off with a little time to think about it.
When Rivals analyst Greg Smith contacted Gatling later in the day, he made it clear that he is going to be on the lookout for a new team, even if he’s not becoming a true free agent.
“I’m still committed but my recruitment is open.”
Obviously, there are going to be people who don’t believe a commitment is actually a commitment if the recruit is still looking. But at the moment, he’s still a member of the Texas A&M 2024 recruiting class.
Nebraska Football has new opening for Texas A&M commit
There are a number of Texas A&M commits that the Huskers should probably at least check out now that Fisher is gone. But it feels like Gatling might be the most poachable for NU.
He’s one of the only ones that’s made it clear he’s going to be at least listening to others if they come calling. And the Nebraska Football team should go calling and see if they can make some inroads.
