The latest Nebraska Football commit, Jaxson Lee had some interesting comments after he gave his pledge, including some that contradict earlier complaints.

The Nebraska Football program getting the pledge of Jaxon Lee is a good thing on its face. However, what the 2024 3-star edge rusher said when he was talking about why he gave his pledge to the Huskers is important for several reasons.

There is of course the fact that Lee is yet another commit from the state of Texas. Matt Rhule and company have made it clear that they think it’s incredibly important for Nebraska Football to have success in the Lone Star State.

However, comments that seem to contradict those made by former Nebraska Football players and that’s a very good thing.

“I liked the locker room vibe,” Lee told 247Sports. “The team was focused and locked in. I see myself there. I belong there. Coach Rhule is a great coach and the program is going in a good direction.”

It’s the “I liked the locker room vibe” that sticks out for me. Earlier in the season one former player claimed that he felt as though the Nebraska Football locker room was “too corporate.”

Those comments came when the program was still struggling a bit. It was before the direction of this regime wasn’t fully established and it seemed like things might be headed off the rails a little.

Nebraska football commit contradicts culture complaints

Now the complaints about Matt Rhule’s culture, that it’s too corporate have been contradicted by someone who was, at the time, outside. Perhaps the person who thought it was too staid and professional mistook what Lee saw as “locked in.”

Of course, we’ve also see videos of halftime speeches and post game talks that show Rhule is plenty firey. So is the Nebraska football team he leads. But it’s nice to hear the kind of buy-in that Jaxon Lee has as someone new to the program.
