Is it possible that Jim Harbaugh’s boys actually cheated while they were preparing to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers and others? The NCAA says yes.
Jim Harbaugh finds himself in the second controversy of the 2023 season and this one might involve the Nebraska Cornhuskers, at least tangentially. On Thursday, Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger and Dan Wetzel reported that the NCAA is investigating the Michigan football program for allegedly violating rules that prohibit teams from scouting future opponents in person.
The Big Ten confirmed in a statement Thursday afternoon that the NCAA is “investigating allegations of sign stealing by the University of Michigan football program.”
While some people might shrug at sign stealing, it’s sending people to watch football games of Michigan opponents, including, it would seem, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, instead of just asking for film that really stands out.
This investigation just got started and for his part, Harbaugh is claiming he knew nothing about what the Big Ten is investigating. It also seems rather odd considering just how much better Michigan is than any of the teams they’ve played so far this season.
Still, it’s been an investigation-heavy summer and fall for the Wolverines. You might remember that Harbaugh was suspended for the first three games of the 2023 season after Michigan self-disciplined for alleged recruiting violations. He returned to the sidelines right before his team took on the Nebraska football team, and then demolished them.
