The Nebraska football team spent much of the summer looking like the front-runner for offensive tackle Grant Brix, but it looks like they lost the race.

Nebraska football fans are certainly well aware that recruiting can be a fickle mistress. Earlier this year, Matt Rhule and company were on quite the roll. However, the Huskers have hit a bit of a rough patch.

Part of that rough patch appears to be losing out on Brix, who seemed like a shoo-in to be a member of the Nebraska football class when the regular season started. Unfortunately, it appears he’s now all but assured to be Oklahoma Sooner bound.

Movement on that front started at the end of last week, with oddly the commitment of another offensive lineman to OU. At the time it felt as though there was a chance that Nebraska could lock up Brix and add another very good offensive lineman to the 2024 class.

However, it now appears as though Oklahoma is just enjoying pulling one offensive lineman after another out of the clutches of the Nebraska football team. Two Rivals recruiting experts have cast Future Cast predictions for Brix and both analysts believe he’s headed to Norman.

Brandon Drumm was the first to show the dominos were falling away from the Huskers. He put in a prediction on Friday night. Drumm is an Oklahoma beat writer for Rivals, so of course it’s possible to claim he has a bias in that regard.

Of course, he predicted Jayshawn Ross to Nebraska back in August despite the Sooners and Huskers doing battle for the defensive end.

On Sunday night, Nebraska football beat writer Greg Smith also put in a prediction for Brix to go to OU.

While it’s not a done deal just yet, it appears the writing is on the wall. Considering Nebraska football is also suddenly worried about losing top 2024 commit Carter Nelson to Notre Dame, the week is starting off in less a positive fashion.
