Nebraska football could be down one starting linebacker against Minnesota
The Nebraska football team might be facing off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers without one of its top defenders on the field.
The game against the Gophers was going to be tough enough. But it appears that the Huskers are going to be playing a man down on Thursday night.
While it hasn’t been made official just yet, all signs are pointing to starting linebacker Nick Henrich suffering another injury. If true, it will mark another sad chapter in the story of a player who has shown flashes of being one of the better backers in the Big Ten. However, injuries have hampered his development.
Because no one associated with Nebraska football has made the announcement, the extent of a potential injury is unknown. However the fact that he is the only player listed as a starter on the defensive depth chart who did not get a Blackshirt is undeniable.
While explaining how the Blackshirts were handed out on Sunday evening, defensive coordinator Tony White said that it could end up being a week-by-week thing. Henrich also put up a post on Instagram that hinted something went wrong.

The post was captioned with nothing other than James 1:2-3. The bible verse in question is about being upbeat in the face of adversity.
“When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”
Nebraska football star injured again?
Henrich has suffered several different injuries dating back to his freshman season with the Nebraska football team. Early in the 2022 campaign, he also had to overcome a series of more minor injuries. Then he tore his ACL during the game against Purdue, and his season was over.
In total, Henrich played just five games last year. 2021 is the only year in which the linebacker played a full season for the Nebraska football team. Now it appears he’ll miss at least one game this fall. We’ll have to wait and see how serious things are.
