While the prevailing theory around Grant Brix is that Nebraska football is involved in a 3-team race, there are signs that’s not the situation anymore.
Nebraska football is still going after offensive linemen with a gusto that is not echoed at all right now at any other position. It’s quite clear that Matt Rhule and company know the offensive front is how the Nebraska Cornhuskers program is going to turn around.
That’s why the commitment of Grant Brix is such a big one. And why the Nebraska football team is going so hard after someone who was once considered a shoo-in for Kansas State.
At the moment, most recruiting services believe that the pursuit of Grant Brix is now a three-team race. Parker Thune at Rivals recently broke down which programs besides Nebraska football are in the running.
"“Whether or not he participates in one of the national all-star showcases this winter, I’m counting on Brix’s senior film being dominant enough to warrant five-star consideration. He’s currently approaching the end of a recruitment process that’s come down to Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas State.”"
It’s worth pointing out that Thune is the Rivals’ Oklahoma expert. He might be a bit biased when talking about the Sooners still being in the running.
Nebraska football running in front
While Thune believes that Grant Brix might still be headed to Norman, another Rivals recruiting expert is going in another direction. And that direction is the same as the direction this whole thing has been trending for a while.
Mason Voth recently put in a prediction for Brix to be a member of the Nebraska football 2024 recruiting class. His prediction carries an extra bit of weight precisely because he’s someone who has a vested interest in being wrong.
Voth runs Emaw Online, the Rivals’ Kansas State. He’d almost certainly be happier if the Kansas State Wildcats were the front runners. But that’s not where he thinks Brix is leaning.
That’s good news for Nebraska football fans who would love to land another 4-star offensive lineman.
